ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Ian
WHERE I COME FROM
A husband, father to two boys, and son to a Royal Canadian Navy veteran Father (later high school teacher), and a Mother who was a Registered Nurse (and ski instructor and my cub scout leader!).
I have always enjoyed being active in the community and helping others, a trait that apparently comes naturally, as my Mother was recognized in my hometown on the centennial as one of the '100 Citizens of the Century' for her work in advancing accessibility issues and volunteering in the community to help those less fortunate.
ALTRUSTIC APPROACH TO WORK
For over 20 years I have worked in various business disciplines in private practice healthcare, balancing financial objectives with helping people who benefit from our services. For the last seven years I have led Mergers & Acquisitions for the Canadian retail arm of the world's largest hearing healthcare organization.
In my career I have been fortunate to help marginalized people at home and abroad, travelling as far as the slums of Lima, Peru to administer hearing health care exams and provide services to those in need.
For the last four years I have been a City of Colwood Councillor, proudly working alongside peers with a diversity of views to put the interests of 'Colwoodian's' first. In a truly non-partisan collaboration with Mayor and Council, I am pleased to have advanced policies and decisions that bridge the political divide and that are in the best interests of our community. I always remind people that I too am a resident and a taxpayer, and for my family and I, Colwood is our home!
